waihi beach barn 145 transportable home
This Waihi-bound beach house began as one of our Elevate 145 plans but soon evolved into something completely bespoke. Working with our in-house architectural and interior design team, the owners reimagined the layout and finishes to reflect their love of mid-century style, vintage character and sustainable living.
Clad in Linea Oblique and Abodo timber, the exterior timber will gently weather to a soft silvery tone. A recessed timber feature end adds warmth, while an extended roofline and covered deck (to be installed on site) create inviting spaces for year-round outdoor living.
An enclosed side deck includes built-in seating and a custom-made table crafted by our joiners from client-supplied recycled timber – a personal touch that perfectly suits the home’s relaxed beachside feel.
Inside, the home balances fun, colour and practicality. The custom kitchen features stainless-steel benchtops, sparkling water tap and clever storage. In the lounge, repurposed cabinetry and a bar nook with green glass salvaged from the clients’ old bach add a sense of history and heart.
Throughout, thoughtful design details shine – from the fluted window seat to the playful pendant light above the dining table, designed to hold the clients’ own photos and memories.
Down the hallway, there’s abundant storage and a bright, easy flow through the bedrooms and bathrooms. The master suite is full of personality, featuring a rimu headboard made from client-supplied timber, recycled bedside lights, and an ensuite with gold vanity, reeded glass shower and retro speckled tiles.
This home also introduced us to Saveboard, an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional building underlays, that we now use across all Elevate builds.
Full of personality, creativity and craftsmanship, this project perfectly showcases just how bespoke an Elevate home can be.
And the final word from our lovely clients, "Thank you so much. We are absolutely thrilled with the result and how easy it has been to work with you all - a dream team!"
