raglan barn 148 transportable home
This 148m² transportable home is proof that great design can be both practical and deeply personal. Headed for the coastal town of Raglan, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom, dual living Elevate 148 is full of character and thoughtful details unique to its owners, Steve and Margaux.
From the moment you enter, it’s clear this home is something special:
A striking natural stone benchtop in rich, vibrant green -Verde Lapponia, a quartzite from Lapland - was chosen by Steve, a retired geologist, and is the heart of the home.
A handcrafted timber feature wall, made from King Country Rimu milled in the 1950s and salvaged from the couple’s original family Bach - restored with care and left in its beautifully raw state.
A wall of bespoke bookshelves, designed to showcase the couples’ extensive book collection, paired with a contemporary wood burner and tiled alcove - perfect for curling up with a good read on a rainy Raglan afternoon.
Stylish bathrooms featuring textured tiles, gunmetal tapware, LED mirrors—and a full-sized bath for soaking in the view.
A cosy second living space, inspired by a cherished room from Margaux's childhood, now reimagined as a snug TV lounge.
These elements all contribute to a home that feels both refined and deeply nostalgic and is a true reflection of its owners.
As Steve and Margaux said,
“A HUGE thanks to the entire Elevate team—the whole process has been wonderful, from design selection and site considerations through to having all the special elements of our forever home executed so beautifully—especially our feature wall (thanks to master craftsman John and designer Melissa) and our gorgeous kitchen bench. We are SO excited!”
